I once saw a house in House Beautiful or HGTV or somewhere that was white with black shutters and a red door. Every since then I have wanted THAT HOUSE. Or rather, that color combination. We are finally getting around to painting the outside of our house, because 1) it is the color of baby poo currently, and 2) Some critter dug a hole into the side of our wood house and we have to get it repaired, so why not just paint the entire house? Good thing I am not squeamish and the thought of some critter running around my attic doesn't really freak me out. I say we should all live in peace with the critters of the world! Of course, that isn't stopping me from calling the exterminator, but I do hope that little critter, whatever it is, makes a clean getaway. I think my parents permanently scarred me by setting mousetraps in the house when I was growing up in Colorado. I tend to feel sorry for even the littlest bugs- which is why I can't go fishing... those poor little worms struggling on the hook... that's just SAD!
OK, so back to the house. Although my heart has been set for YEARS on a white house with black shutters and a red door, I was talked out of it this weekend. First of all, we don't have shutters on the house ("But whhhyyyyy can't we add them?" I whined, "Because it will double the cost of the paint job." Jesse replies. Darn.) Second, Jesse showed me a white house in the neighborhood that had gotten a little dingy. I have a hard enough time keeping the inside of the house clean, but adding an exterior pressure wash every 6 months to a white house (as our contractor told us white houses need)- no thank you!
So I think we decided on a bluish gray with white trim and of course my red door. So it will be red, white, and blue. Love that. It's about time we had some color after the long, hard winter we had. Those of us in Houston consider 5 nights in the 30's one LONG, HARD WINTER.
Speaking of color- love this family and all the COLOR from their session!
